INDUMUEBLES HERNÁNDEZ LTDA was created in 1983, although the company is legally established since August 1 1986. Its founder, and principal partner, legal representative and general manager is Mr. Manuel Hernandez.
In its beginning, the company was devoted to manufacture some furniture in metal such as filing cabinets and shelves which were not directly distributed by the company. The company used to work with machined under contract agreements that were operated by the machines owner himself, Manuel Hernandez, and by two more people.
Along time, INDUMUEBLES started to participate in the market and began to expand its market share with end users, and at the same time it continued with its distributors. Likewise, it began to include more products in its portfolio including products such as folderamas, rolling files and special furniture. The company continued operating rented machines and when the profits permitted it, the company started to purchase them gradually. The expansion of the company operations, allowed it, acquiring them. With the growth of the operations of the company, it started to increase its staff, which was engaged mainly in production (operators) who required no special level of education or training, although physical strength and skills were required for the handling of metal sheets, plus some expertise in the manufacture of furniture or for operating machines similar to those used by the company. This was then a period of permanent growth.
Along with the economic crisis faced with by Colombia in 1998, the company had some hard times, as its sales volumes plunged. A large part of its accounts receivable were in arrears and the company did not have enough working capital to cover the company operations. By that time the company was about to financially collapse, leaving about 35 people without a job. Fortunately a loan was made to the company, although at a high interest rate, but it any how permitted its general manager and the qualified staff of the organization to cope with the financial problems. The company and its management officers have never decided to downsize it in terms of reducing the workforce to try to cope with a hard situation.
Starting from 2003 INDUMUEBLES has been growing steadily which has been reflected among other things in a bigger position of the company within the market, on the part of both customers and competition. The company ahs also expanded its operations nationwide and has also incorporate new products such as open office, and different kinds of chairs, book shelves and all kind of special designs in metal and wood.
In September 2007, INDUMUEBLES HERNANDEZ was certified by ISO 9000 standard, which qualifies the company as one of the organizations in its industry that meets the quality standards that are required by our customers. The company is also engaged in developing its foreign trade department, with the purpose of exporting our products by 2012.
